    Gino’s people shouldn’t use pictures from his concert at the Saban from 2014 to advertise his new concerts. It creates an expectation of the same beautiful concert. I swear he’s using backing tracks too.

    I'm really sad to hear negative reviews from people who saw this show. No, I wasn't there. But a musician like Gino evolves, as he has, and continues to explore. The jazz influence he touched on in the early years is now fully developed and it is amazing. The man is in his 70's and still has range! Someone said he should have dyed his hair - why? His show is about music quality, not flash. He doesn't need to dance or wear fancy clothes; he is an artist.

      You have it spot on!! I saw him in Annapolis, on October 1 - first time every seeing him. A total thrill. This song is probably my favorite of his. People who comment about his hair or anything else that is superficial are just ridiculous. Gino Vannelli is a master of his craft!! A comsummate musician, with total dedication and integrity.

      @@Hautecakes90210 I think Lynnm might mean that he updates a lot of his classics. He's so knowledgeable about composition (meaning the study of harmony/chord changes, rhythm, etc.) that he is always evolving. An example is "Nightwalker." There are differences, such as having the horns play the string line, and some of the chord changes are different. It's probably something that musicians hear, but he has also changed the approach to songs, such as performing them in a different feel......While I'm here, I have to say that I saw him in concert for the first time two weeks ago, in Annapolis, MD. Brilliant and thrilling!!

      @@Hautecakes90210 The newess in his approach in 2014 and now, at the Saban, can be compared to when the songs were released decades before. It's still Gino's songs, but retro doesn't really apply here.

    I fully agree! Gino looked like a slob. I was so very disappointed as too how he let himself go. He should have dyed his hair and had it done . And especially dressed like an artist. Helookwd and sounded out of content. Then he runs out after his show without mingling with his patrons at least for a few minutes too show appreciation Very tacky and rude Gino Vanelli

    • @jillsalkin7389
      @jillsalkin7389 10 місяців тому

      I think you have an impression based on what YOU think he should be. He is slim and healthy looking, and let his hair go natural. He's not the 62 year old man he was when he did the PBS filmed concert at this theater. He is natural, relaxed, and sounds better than ever. I just saw him on the last night of this tour in Annapolis. There was a meet and greet that was offered at a price when I bought my tickets. I opted not to do it because I thought the venue probably decided on this price, not Gino, but regardless, I knew I'd be disappointed if I got a very brief time to meet him and take a pic, before the next person stepped up. A great suprise was that after the show, his band came out and sat on the edge of the stage for us to meet and chat. He is a genuine person, so his comfortable, but cool attire, and white hair is part of that authentic person. I'm sure he was gracious to all who did the meet and greet. It's his choice to not join his band after.

    Maybe Gino Vannili, needs too remember where he was , and who brought him too where he is now. The audience the people before he rushed away after his performance. He absolutely should have mingled alittle with the crowd before making such a quick exit. Where would he be now without his audience? They made him who he was. Not very nice Vanneli!

    • @jillsalkin7389
      @jillsalkin7389 9 місяців тому

      If you've seen Gino interviewed, you've heard him say that from a young age, he realized that he had to protect his voice and stay healthy. That's why he can sing so amazingly at his age. Talking a lot after a show is hard on the voice. I understand that you would have wanted to meet him, but he's just keeping with what he's done for decades. I saw him for the first time on Oct. 1 in Annapolis, MD. The meet and greet cost $75. which I assume was priced by the venue. Unexpectedly, the band came out to talk with people who stuck around. Very enjoyable.

    • @jillsalkin7389
      @jillsalkin7389 9 місяців тому

      The audience obviously adores him by the sound of the ovation. Gino Vannelli has always had a select, devoted following. I think most of us understand why he doesn't come out after the show. The venue I saw him in had a meet and greet, priced at $75. I think that was priced by the venue. It's done before the show, after the sound check, so there is a limited time for him to be talking before a show. He sounds as great as he does because he's careful about that and staying healthy. He's always done what he wants to as an artist, and most of his devotees respect that. Btw, in every interview, he comes across as the nicest person. He even did an interview in a guy's garage!!

      We enjoyed that in Annapolis, MD, too. It was the first time I'd seen Gino, and I decided to not opt for the meet and greet because it was $75. a person, and I thought it would be a quick hello, and frustrating! My son and I had the chance to have meaningful chats with drummer, Rheinhardt Melz and bassist, Damian Erskine. Of course, I would have loved to have met Gino, but again, I knew it would be a very fast meet.

    Disappointed Gino changed many of his songs that we wanted to hear the same as we remembered them. Gino should have dressed a bit nicer too. Saw Simply Red in Europe this year and he sang all his songs as we remembered them. That’s what the audience really wants. Not all the fusion changes. 😢 This concert pales in comparison to his last visit to the Saban.

      Are you referring to the concert at the Saban in 2014. The arrangements are the same. I was blown away by that concert, which led me on a whole new discovery of Gino after decades. I just saw him on the last night of this tour, in Annapolis, MD, and was blown away!! If you know anything about Gino's evolution as the consummate musician he is, he has studied harmony extensively, and has reworked his songs. He's not changing anything so much that it isn't recognizable. For him to sound better than ever, and bring us something new along with the old, is commendable.....Also, listen to the ovations he gets. They love it!

      Simply Red is a whole different kind of music than what Gino does. If anything, the changes spice up what were already great compositions. He's studied harmony extensively, so why stay with what he did. He keeps evolving, and going by the reception that this audience gave him, along with what I experienced in person, in Annapolis last Sunday, it's appreciated. If you want the usual sounding music, go to a Billy Joel concert. Gino and his brothers wrote with hip changes decades ago.

    His voice is still good and the band was good. Unfortunately, he didn’t sing many of his old songs and what he did sing was all rearranged. Many were disappointed at the new sound of the old songs. Too much fusion added to enjoy. This concert at the Saban was Nothing like his last performance here. I know that’s what I had hoped for.

      I understand. Listening to this isn't what I wanted, either. I also understand his point of view > he wants to keep things fresh, re-invent songs, if you will. But not everyone is on board with that. To me, this was disappointing.

    • @jillsalkin7389

      Are you talking about the 2014, "Live in LA" concert? He did most of the same songs, with the current arrangements. One of the admirable things about Gino Vannelli, is that he is constantly evolving. He was so different from everyone else when he emerged, and fusion was def a part of what he did.
